Sigh… It’s been another rainy weekend in Atlanta. Joe has been working this weekend, so JP and I have spent some quality bonding time together. It’s the time of year where I start cramming in fun activities. There’s always a Fall festival, cook off or pumpkin patch to visit each weekend. Sometimes I stress about trying to get it all in before Fall is over. In Atlanta, you wake up and Winter is here after one week of Fall weather.
Our local Fire Department had an open house on Saturday that we went to. They had tours of the fire house, photos with the firemen and a chance for the kids to sit in the fire truck. JP LOVED sitting in the fire truck. I had to pull him out of it! It was a great community activity for the kids to learn about fire safety while having fun.
My other go-to Mommy trick for a rainy day is taking him to Petsmart. It was adoption day at our local store, so JP played with a few puppies. I highly recommend a trip to Petsmart for toddlers. We practice our animal sounds and visit each animal. I’m sure one day this won’t work for me and I’ll end up coming home with a puppy. But until then, it’s a lot of fun when the weather sucks!
To cap off the weekend, I ran 4 miles on the treadmill. I feel like I’m cheating when I only run 4 miles, but I’m following Jeff Galloway’s plan exactly. I feel like I should at least run 6 for a “long run”, but I’m trying to respect the plan and appreciate the easy runs while I can. I’m starting to get sick of the treadmill, but its so convenient when I want to sleep in a bit longer. I miss my running friends so much though. I need to get back into my Sunday group running routine again!
My Plantar Fasicitis has also started acting up again. I’m not sure if last week’s 15 miles caused it or it flared up out of nowhere. So I’m back to icing, Ibprofen and stretching to prevent the pain before it hits.
Next weekend will be interesting…our family has a Saturday Fall tradition of visiting North Georgia (which may or may not include apple slushies, pies and turnovers), then I’ve got to log 17 miles for marathon training. I’m not sure about doing them back to back. It might be interesting.
