Run Disney vacations are so much more than just planning a normal vacation. We log hundreds of miles and endure lots of aches and pains for the glory of our own finish line victories. Some of us have lost a few toenails or even ignore a slight pain that keeps talking to us. By the time our Run Disney vacation approaches, our bodies are prepared to attempt feats that most people can’t even do.
After your you race, you want to alleviate those aches and pains as soon as possible. For me, that means a trip to the spa! If you are staying on Disney property, you have many great options that are just beyond your hotel room door. Disney spas invigorate your mind and body while releasing any tension. The two biggest spas on property are The Spa at Saratoga Springs resort and Senses Spa at the Grand Floridian resort.
I’ve gathered everything you need to know about adding a Spa day to your Run Disney vacation. I interviewed Anne from Disney’s Senses Spa to help give you the most accurate information possible.
Spa treatments can be booked 180 days in advance.
This is the same time you book dining for your trip. I would add the booking day to your calendar if you plan to book a spa treatment, such as a massage.
Spa hours of operation are 8am to 8pm.
This can vary if they are less busy and become 9am-6pm, so be sure to ask about the hours when you call to book a treatment.
The type of spa treatment to book depends on your needs.
If you prefer a massage that gets rid of any knots and helps you re-gain range of motion, book a Sports Massage ($145-$200). If you want to relax post-race, book a Swedish Massage so you can control the pressure offered ($135-$195). Try one of the Signature Pedicures if you’d like to restore the look of your toes ($90).
The Spa offers extra amenities too.
It is recommended that you arrive up to an hour prior to your appointment to enjoy the full services of the spa. These include: hot tubs, saunas and showers. They also offer a selection of light hors d’ourvres and vitamin water for your enjoyment.
BEST PART: anybody staying on Disney property can use these extra amenities too.
Even if you don’t want to spend the money on a spa service, you can use the spa! It is only $25 for a day pass. This means you have full access to the food, hot tubs, showers, saunas and fitness center. This is a great option for runners who still want to enjoy the spa without spending the extra money. Runners who are staying at the Grand Floridian resort, don’t need the day pass. They can access the amenities with their Magic Band.
Some discounts are available.
If you are a DVC Member, you receive 10% off on spa services at any Disney location. Disney does offer vacation packages where discount spa treatments are bundled with your other Disney experiences.
