Disney Junior’s latest animated series, “Vampirina” is premiering Sunday October 1st with two back to back episodes simulcast on Disney Channel and Disney Junior. The show comes with perfect timing to get kids in the mood for Halloween and it stars one of my favorite actors – James Van Der Beek alongside Lauren Graham and Isabella Crovetti. Learn more about the new television series and make these fun Healthy Bat Snacks to celebrate the premiere!
Set in a Pennsylvania neighborhood, the series stars Lauren Graham, James Van Der Beek and Isabella Crovetti as the Hauntley family, friendly vampires who have recently moved from their home in Transylvania. The stories follow Vampirina (aka “Vee”) as she faces the joys and trials of being the new kid in town including making friends and attending a new school in the human world. Along the way, Vee learns that it may be easier to blend in with her peers, but it’s more valuable to celebrate the qualities that make each individual unique.
It’s inspired by Disney Publishing’s popular children’s book series “Vampirina Ballerina,” written by Anne Marie Pace and illustrated by LeUyen Pham, the series includes leaders from the creative team on Disney Junior’s Peabody Award-winning animated series “Doc McStuffins” including creator/executive producer Chris Nee and co-executive producer Norton Virgien.
Watch the Theme Song to “Vampirina”

Tickets go on sale Friday, September 22, at FathomEvents.com/DisneyJunior
Healthy Bat Snacks Inspired by “Vampirina”
We’re certainly excited about the “Vampiric” premiere in our home. My 3 year old son loves watching the previews. I created these Healthy Bat Snacks as fun snack to eat while watching the premiere. They are so easy and only require a few minutes for each bat. It’s also great for Halloween too!
- Plastic Baggy
- Sliced Grapes
- Black and Pink Pipe Cleaners
- Black Clothes Pin
- 2 Googly Eyes
- Black and White Self-Stick Foam Sheets
Fill the plastic baggy half-way full and seal at the top. Roll the top of the bag down and pinch in the center of the bag to create the wings on either side.
Add the black clothes pin to the center of the pinched area.
Create the wings from the pipe cleaners. Secure the outer edges by twisting together. Make sure the top is rounded and the bottom is zig zag for a true “bat look”. Add it under the clothes pin at the top to secure it.
Using a glue gun (adults only), add the googly eyes to the clothes pin. Cut tiny triangles of the black and white foam paper. Stick the black triangles at the very top of the clothes pin for the bat ears. Stick the white triangles upside down to create the fangs.
Keep the Healthy Bat Snacks in the fridge until ready to serve.
