I cannot stress enough how quickly this pregnancy seems to be going! I feel like we’ll be holding baby boy #2 in no time. But it’s starting to stress me out about getting things done. I want to have most of my editorial calendar for the blog completed for the 4th quarter, the nursery done and all of the baby essentials stocked. I’m taking it one day at a time!
The “experts” say that the baby is putting on hair this week. If the old wives tale holds true, “the more heartburn the Mother has, the more hair the baby has”, then I’m giving birth to Chewbacca! I remember that the heartburn only got worse with my first born, so I can just keep dealing with it as it comes along.
I haven’t worked out, even walked much, in a 1 1/2 weeks. I had a horrible cough that just wouldn’t stop. I coughed so hard that I either cracked or strained by back (didn’t get an x-ray to find out). But that put me on the sidelines from exercise for a bit. Thankfully, my OB put me on an antibiotic to help and it eventually subsided. Hopefully I can start moving some more soon.
We have our upcoming family vacation next month and I’m really looking forward to it. We’ll be visiting Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and Walt Disney World. It didn’t occur to me that I’ll be at the 8 month mark in my pregnancy, but it’ll be a nice break from our daily routine. I’m not sure it will be relaxing, but I’m looking forward to it nonetheless… because its DISNEY!
My goal is to keep chugging along on his nursery this week. Once I get the room painted, my amazing husband can start putting together the baby gear. I want the rock-n-play, carseat, swing and stroller all set up.
Finally, I want to pass along my thoughts about pregnancy the 2nd time around. These are things you just really don’t care about during your 2nd pregnancy that you thought were essential the first time around…
Things That Don’t Matter During Your 2nd Pregnancy
I have them left over from the 1st pregnancy and they all faded. I just don’t have time to slather my tummy in lotion all day long while taking care of a toddler. I’ll just have a striped tummy for the rest of my life.
I’ll admit that I thought about getting them done with this pregnancy, but as I progress with the pregnancy the grosser I feel. I’d rather put the money elsewhere and not remember how I felt at 7 months pregnant in the Atlanta heat.
All of the Latest and Greatest Baby Gear
I know what works and what doesn’t. The Diaper Geannie was a huge waste of money for us with our first born. I have a great grasp of things that I need and things that will serve me well. Just because it’s the hottest buy on the market, doesn’t mean we need it.
We had one done for my firstborn and I had to drive back twice since they couldn’t get a great view of him. At $140+ per session, I’ll pass. I’ll wait until November to see my cutie’s face. I don’t even think I framed the 3D photos from my oldest!
Pregnancy Advice Books
I read What to Expect When You’re Expecting like a novel at one point. All it did was worry me about the baby. I won’t toss my books, but I’m not sitting around and reading them like they are essential to my health. I’m far too busy running after a toddler to even care. I’ll just trust my OB to keep me informed.
