Atlanta got the very tip of the hurricane weather that hit the East Coast this weekend, which brought a ton of rain and cooler temps. While I’m excited that it FINALLY feels like Fall, it was pretty hard to keep a toddler entertained all weekend. We hung around the house way more than I prefer.
My biggest accomplishment this weekend was finishing my first long run for WDW Marathon training! The rain forced me inside on the treadmill, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. You really need good entertainment ready for a long treadmill run. I chose to watch Disney’s Enchanted and push through 15 miles at a 3:1 interval. I won’t lie, it started feeling long around mile 12 and I had to text my friend, Kierstn, for encouragement. But I am so glad it’s done! Next up will be 17 miles in two weeks…
This morning, we took a trip to Cartersville, GA to visit the Tellus Science Museum with JP. He loves dinosaurs SO MUCH. They had a fossil exhibit with several of our favorite dinosaurs, like “Stan” the T-Rex and a Triceratops. They even have a spot for kids to dig for real dinosaur fossils that the kids can take home. We took home a baby dinosaur tooth!
Between our dinosaur books and our visit to the Tellus Science Museum today, we’ll be ready for Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur movie. It hits theaters on November 25th and we plan on making it JP’s first movie theater experience. Can’t wait!
To replenish my carbs from yesterday’s treadmill run, my Mom made a home cooked meal for us. She made a pork roast, coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread and pecan pie! Definitely not runner-friendly food, but I’ll celebrate a great weekend with a family dinner then get back to healthy eating tomorrow.
Even though we were forced inside for much of the weekend, we made the best of it. Starting my countdown to next weekend already…
What did you do this weekend? Did you have horrible rain like us on the East Coast?
